Alex Amor - Dare You

After this year's debut EP Love Languages, Glasgow’s Alex Amor continues to create magical pop with Dare You. With Line of Best Fit and Beats Per Minute releasing glowing reviews praising the song, and a performance in Edinburgh’s Usher Hall for Wide Days it is clear Amor is on track for big things. Dare You is pushed by a steady beat as the artist carves out stunning vocal melodies with flurries of layered synth creating an iconic hook.

Berta Kennedy - Free-Swimming

With support slots under Brooke Combe and John Rush at King Tuts and St Lukes respectively, indie/alt-pop producer and singer/songwriter Berta Kennedy is soon to break the hearts of many across the local scene. A distinct combination of angular rock riffs and early 00’s pop sensibilities, the latest release Free Swimming is a perfect measure of the best components of each genre and style.

Fauves - Ends of Me

Coming in hot with a sleek return to form on Ends of Me, Glasgow’s own Fauves once again show the world what they’re made of. A rubbery bassline underpins the air tight rhythm section, with the eerie synths and smattering of guitar over the top making for a cosmic and groovy track. The six-piece have received recognition from Apple Music, Amazing Radio and even Robert Carlyle!

Frontierer - Glacial Plasma

Not holding back one bit, the new track from Frontierer is firing on all cylinders from the word go. Glacial Plasma is the brand new track from the three-piece, coming as the first release since their last album in 2018. An uncompromising and furious sonic wall hits you immediately with this track and refuses to let up until you succumb to the mathcore brutalism.

Hamish Hawk - The Mauritian Badminton Doubles Champion, 1973

Conjuring such vivid images through his music and lyrics, Edinburgh’s Hamish Hawk continues to paint a rich tapestry with his art. The Mauritian Badminton Doubles Champion, 1973 is the fourth single from Hawk this year, using a trip to St Paul’s Cathedral in London as his main inspiration, Hawk manages to come out with a solid pop-rock song. Lyrically tender and colourful, giving the track an edge similar to Belle and Sebastian or Wilco.

KAVARI - Single (Stay Awake)

Within the past year, local DJ and producer KAVARI has been featured on BBC Introducing Scotland, Clyde Built Radio, DJ Mag and London-based label Insert. With monthly radio shows on Subcity and Aerial Radio, it is clear the skills as an artist are clear. With the latest track Single (Stay Awake), KAVARI opens up a sonic portal to another world. Defying any earthly limitations the artist creates a whole other world within this track.

Maebh - Drizzle Drizzle

With the release of her self-produced debut EP imminent, Maebh (pronounce Maeve) lets this latest track draw you into her sonic world. Working with Help Musicians UK to get this project on the road to release, Drizzle Drizzle is the second single this year. A buoyant and subtle track filled with luscious vocals and a wash of keyboards, this track lays the groundwork for another successful year for the young artist.

Psweatpants - SPEEDIN

Representing the hometown of South London whilst currently located in Edinburgh, burgeoning artist Psweatpants has been carving out his place with the Scottish hip-hop and rap scene with a slew of EP releases. With the latest single SPEEDIN, Psweatpants lays bare the skills he has. A slick hook built around shiny synths injecting the track with a danceability as he lays the rhythmic bars over the top.

Shears - Afterthought

Artist and producer Shears has been making a name for herself in the Scottish scene since her debut single Circle Line in early 2019. Based in Leith, the young artist has received acclaim from the List, the Skinny and airplay from BBC Radio Scotland. This latest track Afterthought is a pulsating pop banger, complete with solid basslines and driven drums.

Snooks - Henny

Built around an enticing flute sample, local rapper Snooks drops a thundering bass over the top to create the punishing track Henny. Filled with stuttering hi-hats and an enveloping production, Snooks showcases his unrivaled flow from start to finish.
