WHAT a year it has been at SAMA’s - 2019 marked the TENTH awards ceremony, we also hosted our very own music festival in Paisley, and showcases at Cryptic’s Sonica Glasgow 2019 festival. We would like to thank all our partners who we have worked with, and the many artists we have promoted through the awards and playlists!

2020 is looking exciting for SAMA’s - we will be back in the new year with more events. For the time-being here is a NEW playlist featuring TEN Scottish releases from metal, to hip hop, pop, and rock.

Bleed From Within - The End Of All We Know

Scottish metal heroes Bleed From Within have had a busy last month of the year with a European tour with Madball. Now with their latest single “The End Of All We Know” hails for an even busier 2020. A rampaging force of chugging riffs and punishing drums marks a new era for the band, one that will now doubt secure their legendary status.

Stock Manager - Are We Just A Moment In Infinity

Creating a flurry of gritty guitars that shrouds the hazy melodies, the latest single from VHS Rock trio Stock Manager is a short but sweet anthem. Creating such a powerful aesthetic that is intertwined with their stunning songwriting will no doubt strike a chord with a lot of people.

Randolph’s Leap - Christmas, Burn It All

Making “pop music for unpopular people”, the eight-piece Randolph’s Leap have dropped the most realistic Christmas song in recent times. Swapping the tinsel and mince pies for the reminder of all the heroes we’ve lost and the crumbling environment. A tongue in cheek look at the past year, it does stand as a good Christmas song maybe just not the one you’re gran would take to kindly too.

Quinny - Christmas Gear

Paisley singer/songwriter Quinny has provided yet another Christmas song, one that contemplates the scenario of selling cocaine on Christmas day. A topic that is often overlooked apparently, Quinny puts this situation over the top of some tender guitar and turns it into an all swinging brass filled outro.

Siobhan Wilson - Theatre In Winter

As prolific as ever, Siobhan Wilson has given us one last present before the year is up in the form of “Theatre In Winter”. Coming off the new EP “Plastic Grave”, the artist’s stripped back approach to the song makes for a tender and truly beautiful creation. Wilson’s ethereal vocal performance sits atop of the steady rise of guitars and drums, culminating in a haunting sweep of choral melodies.

Lilura - Nylon

A rising star in the pop music circuit, Lilura’s new single “Nylon” evokes a fierce sense of defiance. Creating hooks worthy of the UK charts, the young artist will be making waves in the following year with this brand of Charli XCX adjacent pop bangers.

Empress - Poetry

A brutal and scathing attack on those who try to mess her about, Empress is back with the new track “Poetry”. Laid over a hypnotic loop of piano and the barebones of a beat, Empress spits bars across them with no holds barred.

The Girobabies - Fetching Pitchfork

Combining a deadly flow with an interesting load of samples The Girobabies have surpassed themselves with “Fetching Pitchfork”. Creating an eerie atmosphere with the underpinning bass line and the flourishing of samples throughout.

Deni - I don’t know how to feel

Forming in January of this year, Deni have released their debut single “I Just Don't Know How to Feel”. An excellent display of their musical talent if they have been cooking this jazz infused track, we can only wonder what other treats they have in store for next year.

Vasa - Heroics

Prefixed with the announcement of their return to the stage, 2020 will be an interesting year for post-rock quartet Vasa. With the album of the same name inbound, “Heroics” leads the charge on this latest campaign. A track that goes at breakneck speed, weaving in and out of each section Vasa take you on a wild journey of musical experimentation. Combining chugging riffs with screaming lead lines makes for an invigorating listen.
