The undeniable talent and charisma of The Lapelles frontman lives on through his magnificent music
YESTERDAY'S sad news that The Lapelles' frontman Gary Watson died following a tragic accident, the night before his 22nd birthday, has hit us hard here at The Scottish Alternative Music Awards.
We have nothing but respect, admiration, and fond memories of Gary as a person and as a musician. From our brief encounters with him over the summer at T in the Park and Belladrum we were able to see why he and his band were quickly becoming one of the brightest stars in our growing Scottish music scene.
Gary was kind, charmisatic, and had undeniable talent. He has been described as a hero, an icon, and a visionary by those who know him best. All things Gary was and would have became because he grabbed life by the hand.
We ask that everyone respects the wishes of his family, friends and bandmates during this difficult time and allow them peace to grieve.
What we can do right now to ensure his legacy lives on, is enjoy the magnificent music he created with The Lapelles.
RIP Gary.
