SAMA's return for Tenth Year on 25th October
The Scottish Alternative Music Awards (SAMA’s) shines a spotlight on new Scottish contemporary music across a range of genres. Saint Luke’s in Glasgow will host the award ceremony as it returns for it’s TENTH year on Friday 25th October.
The first two acts announced to perform at the event are CHLOBOCOP, and Franky’s Evil Party. The ceremony will be hosted by radio DJ Jim Gellatly, and Scottish poet Leyla Josephine. Ran in association with key partners Rebel Rebel Barbers, and Creative Scotland the SAMA’s are set to bring a giant night of music celebration to Glasgow.

“Reaching year ten is a really great milestone! Each year we turn the attention to underground genres such as hip hop, metal, and electronica to discover new, innovative and exciting sounds produced across Scotland. This is a great platform for promoters, record labels, journalists, music fans to discover the best in new Scottish music. The team and I are currently working hard behind the scenes to produce a stunning alternative award show with a few surprises, roll on October!”

Best Hip Hop in association with Help Musicians Scotland
Best Acoustic in association with BTO BeCreative
Best Live Act in association with Musicians Union
Best Metal in association with Hard Rock Cafe Glasgow
Best Rock/Alternative in association with Beezer
Many of Scotland’s biggest acts right now are previous SAMA winners, including Gerry Cinnamon, Lewis Capaldi, Be Charlotte, Fatherson, The Ninth Wave & many more.
The nominations are selected by seven specialist groups of music professionals working in Scotland. The public will have a chance to have their say through a five day public vote, with the winners being announced in October. More details of the nomination process will be revealed online in August.
In addition to the 2019 awards, the SAMA’s are proud to announce two new music partnerships with music business conference Liverpool Sound City+ 2020, and Cryptic’s award-winning visual arts festival Sonica Glasgow 2019, in which Scottish artists will be invited to showcase music to new audiences.
Limited tickets for Scottish Alternative Music Awards are on sale now via Eventbrite from £10, with £1 from each sale going directly to 2019 charity partner Help Musicians Scotland.
