Hiya February! Here are 10 tracks to dive into for the month, remember to follow and subscribe to SAMA on Spotify 🎧

Amie Huckstep - Honey

Earnestly plucked chords serve as the backdrop for Glasgow-based singer/songwriter Amie Huckstep new track ‘Honey’. With additional instrumentation bulking out the track to give Huckstep the proper platform to preform these elegant melodies, each flourish of trumpet or roll of the snare heads add impact to the stunning lovesick lyrics.

Eat The Friek - Drinks Cabinet

After a successful string of release shows to celebrate the new double AA side, psych rock trio Eat The Friek have unleashed a fuzzy cacophony of noise with ‘Drinks Cabinet’. The swirling void of guitar chords and tight drumming drives the track right to its chaotic and cathartic climax.

Icon Music, 77 - Time

A newly established production house evolving out of the Up2Stndrd platform, Icon Music are here to bring the underground hip-hop artists of Glasgow to the forefront. On ‘Time’, with new artist 77 taking the vocal duties, the layered production really shines through and helps set the tone for 77 to launch into his bars.

LDN Mikez - Codeine Highs

The third release from up and coming Trap artist LDN Mikez is a club ready hit in the form of Codeine Highs. Blending the syrupy sounds of the biggest Atlanta Trap artists of the last decade with his own twist, Mikez expertly spits his bars over the booming 808. You can expect to more from LDN Mikez in 2023!

Philomenah, KruddTheGuru - Vacant Moments

Shetland siren Philomenah has teamed up with Baltimore MC KruddTheGuru for this enchanting new track ‘Vacant Moments’. This track is the third single since her debut EP ‘white dove’ was released last year. ‘Vacant Moments’ is a thick mix of heady synth pads, 808 bass and Trap-style beats that lets Philomenah command the track with her winding melodies. Pinc Wafer - Anything

Pinc Wafer - Anything

Having started the year with a sold out headline at King Tuts Glasgow-based indie weirdos Pinc Wafer have finally delivered their sophomore EP, titled ‘A Romantic Trip the Brain and Back’, which delves into the synth and the strange. On this latest track ‘Anything’, having got its debut one radio thanks to Phoebe IH and Sheehan Cutkelvin on BBC Introducing Scotland, is equally slick and hard-hitting. The sleek synth chords that open the song pave the way for the slinky guitar lines and crooning melodies from frontman David Waters.

PLASTICINE - Deep End

With attention from BBC Introducing Scotland and a support slot on the recent Mom Jeans show at SWG3, Plasticine have quickly made themselves one of the leading rock bands emerging out of Glasgow. ‘Deep End’ is the bands sophomore single and is packed with dreamy vocals and visceral guitar tones.

The Quiet One - CPTSD (Phone Memo)

The latest release from The Quiet One, the solo project of Amber Wilson (OK Button), is a tender snapshot that feels so fragile. CPTSD is simply Wilson and her acoustic guitar captured via a phone voice memo. The recording feels like a moment has been captured without it being diluted with nostalgia and fading memory.

Town Centre - Maybe I’m Alone

Immediately grabbing your attention with the monolithic synth bass, Town Centre weave an interesting and esoteric story with their song ‘Maybe I’m Alone’. The inherently danceable instrumentation allows for stories of Jet2 Flights and shoddy cars to be told, sounding like a millennial take on the bittersweet stories told in Arab Strap songs.

VIV LATIFA, D Rivero - Dilema

Contemporary R&B artist Viv Latifa, originally from Italy now based in Scotland, crafts a melting pot of Latin and Afrobeat music into a sultry modern sound. On this latest track ‘Dilema’, a collaboration with D Rivero, Latifa snakes around her vocal melodies and runs, whilst the snappy drum machines and acoustic guitar lead lines craft this exquisite instrumentation.
